about
With or without your beating heart, the next day comes and washes over you like the tide, soaks you through your skin, freezes and boils you like British steak.
Water is mutable. Water changes constantly, naturally, and destroys itself and everything it comes in contact with; it takes life and property. Ian drowned at least 54 of the at least 119 dead in Florida.
I dove into this piece and it changed itself because it’s all water all the way down. I dug way too shallow of a trench and it overflowed. But the water was free, because I don’t pay for anything, and it was easy- because I’m mostly water, obviously.
Water is scary. Water was never scarier to me than when I heard of the Edmund Fitzgerald. You can wash your hands and pots and pans with water, and bathe in it, and drink it, but it can and will preserve your corpse for decades at the right temperature. Water keeps everything the same and doesn’t change.
Water is immutable; the river bends always get steeper and always make lakes, and those lakes always freeze at 32℉, usually.
We dry up and we die. Water gets sick of being in one place too long, probably.
Water gives and sustains life, cleans, kills, dirties, gives, takes, changes, remains, is loud, is quiet, is calm, is furious, is cold, is hot, is air, is ground.
Wake, wait, whine, wail, and watch Water wage wicked war.
Experimental hip-hop beats and meditative arrangements abound on this original soundtrack, the producer's first release in nearly a decade. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 3, 2019
